The Japanese Bobtail should present the overall impression of a medium sized cat with clean lines and bone structure, well-muscled but straight and slender rather than massive in build. The unique set of its eyes, combined with high cheek bones and a long parallel nose, lend a distinctive Japanese cast to the face, especially in profile, quite different from the other oriental breeds. Its short tail should resemble a bunny tail with the hair fanning out to create a pom-pom appearance which effectively camouflages the underlying bone structure of the tail.

It is recognized in shorthair and semilonghair variations.

The American Bobtail is a medium to large, naturally occurring, bobtailed cat. It is a noticeably athletic animal, well muscled, with the look and feel of power. It possesses a unique natural hunting gaze that combines with the breed’s body type and natural bobtail to give the American Bobtail a distinctive wild appearance. The breed’s expression is intelligence and alertness. Females are generally proportionately smaller than males with type a more important aspect of the breed than size or tail characteristics.

It is recognized in shorthair and semilonghair variations.

The goal of the Pixie-Bob breeding program is to create a domestic cat with a visual similarity to the North American Bobcat. This wild look does not reflect the true nature of the cat, which loves, trustworthy and tractable. The Pixie-Bob comes in the shorthair and longhair varieties. The Pixie-Bob has an inverted pear-shaped head, heavily hooded eyes, strong muzzle and chin. Strong heavy muscular body with substantial boning, like the North American Bobcat. Females are proportionnately smaller than the males.

The overall impression of the Manx ( Cymric) cat is that of roundness; round head with firm, round muzzle and prominent cheeks; broad chest; substantial short front legs; short back which arches from shoulders to a round rump; great depth of flank and rounded, muscular thighs. The Manx should be alert, clear of eye, with a glistening, clean, well-groomed coat. They should be surprisingly heavy when lifted. The furthest extension of the tail bone from the body should be no longer than three inches. The direction in which the tail is carried is not important. The tail may be flexible or rigid and should be of a size and shape that harmonizes with the rest of the cat. The length of a tail makes no more than 10 cm.
Tail – is short, being half-length or less than that of the average cat. The tail is flexible and expressive and may be straight, slightly curved or slightly kinked or have bumps along the length of the tail. Tail set in line with the top line of the hip. Tail to be broad at base, strong and substantial to the touch, never fragile. Straighter tails should exhibit a fat pad at the end of the tail and are preferred over kinked tails. Length – Must be long enough to be clearly visible above the back when alert, not to extend past a stretched hind hock in length.
Articulated tail is desirable, however, kinks and curls are acceptable. Minimum of 2 inches in lenght, (approximately thumb length). Maximum to the hock, when hind leg is fully extended. Bone length determines the length of the tail. When relaxed, tail should be carried low.

It has at least three vertebrae, but must not be longer than one fourth of the body length. The length of a tail makes not less than 3 sm and no more the one fourth bodies.
TAILLESSNESS: appearing to be absolute in the perfect specimen. A rise of bone at the end of the spine is allowed and should not be penalized unless it is such that it stops the judge's hand, thereby spoiling the tailless appearance of the cat. The rump is extremely broad and round.
As the gene with no tail is hazardous to health, in breed assumptions for animals with several sections of backbone in a tail which participate in the championships are made, but estimated below than with absolutely no tail, and also animals with truncated mobile tail (stumpy) and a normal long tail (longy) which do not show in the championships, but necessarily participate in cultivation.
